From unexpected emergencies to the final breakdown of a long-aging concrete floor, you don’t always get the luxury of planning when flooring upgrades are necessary. Bayou Concrete Coatings can offer you a high quality flooring upgrade using our specially formulated solid color polyurea/polyaspartic system.
With the strength to resist chemical damage and the flexibility to withstand repeated temperature cycles, our solid color polyurea system is the perfect choice for interior and exterior spaces, including:
By choosing Bayou Concrete Coatings’ polyurea concrete coating system, you don’t just benefit from the convenience of year-round installations; you also get the following benefits for a lifetime of flooring satisfaction:
This is due to polyureas extreme flexibility, elongation, dense cross-linking and mar resistance. Polyureas can take a tremendous amount of abuse because they are malleable and can take the physical impacts and disperse them, much like the rubber on a car tire.
Polyureas are 98% more flexible than typical Epoxy/Hybrid floor coatings. This flexibility is key during large temperature fluctuations. Polyureas, being as flexible as they are, expand and contract with the concrete leaving the surface strong and intact.
Polyureas are more chemically resistant to a much wider range of chemicals than epoxy surfaces. This is due to their densely cross-linked chemistry. From Stains, Oil, Gas, and Grease, to Acids, Skydrol, Hydroxides, Polyureas will stand the test of time. Polyureas are also 100% UV stable.
The installation process starts by assesing the condition of your floor. This step determines what type of concrete the new floor will be insrtalled. Moisture content, hardness and structural condition will all determine our approach in preparing the surface for maximum results.
After collecting information on the condition of your floor, our technicians will start preparing the surface for maximum adhesion. This is accomplished by using state of the art concrete grinders. These machines remove any unstable concrete at the surface and leave a coarse surface, which is essential for the next step of the process.
After diamond grinding the concrete surface we will repair any further damage the floor might have. These repairs are made to floors and to surfaces in which the grinder was not able to reach due to the extend of the damage (deep cracks and pits). We use menders that have a fast curing time with highly resilient properties, strnghtening the concrete and gettign the surface ready for the application of the base coat.
We start by mixing a small amount of our base coat, a self-priming pure polyurea, which is used to cut in all the edges around the floor and cover the prepared concrete surface. The base coat is applied using a technique using a roller, to ensure the product is evenly distributed. We repeat the rolling process until the whole surface is covered completely.
When the floor is coated completely with the base coat, we broadcast the flake into the wet coating by hand, covering the whole floor with the flakes. By using mass quantities of flakes, we ensure that the floor is completely covered, leaving it uniform in color and texture. Any flakes that are loose or vertically standing are removed by a process called "scrapping". This ensure the smoothness of the surface.
After our floor is prepped, coated, flaked, scraped, and vacuumed, we can start our final step — the application of the clear coat. We start by clear coating all of the vertical surfaces and then brushing the perimeter of the floor itself. The clear coat is distributed across the floor through a technique of rolling and squeegeeing. This ensures that no unsightly lines will be left upon completion of the project.
After 4 to 6 hours of drying you can confidently walk on your new coating and after 48 hours you can park and drive on the coating. We hope you fully enjoy your new floor!
